This 2TB Xbox expansion card just hit its all-time low price – and it's cheaper than two 1TB cards

Buying expansion cards for the Xbox Series X has always been an expensive endeavor, but over the past year or so, prices have started to drop to more reasonable levels. While not as cheap as the best PS5 SSDs, they're still a bit cheaper – especially when these prices have dropped to record lows.

The 2TB Seagate expansion card for Xbox Series X|S is currently down to $222 on Amazon. Not only is this the lowest price ever for this specific expansion card, it's cheaper than buying two 1TB cards. Trust us, this isn't always the case, and this could prove to be a great way to more than triple your Xbox's onboard storage.

Historically, Xbox expansion cards have been very expensive because Microsoft uses a proprietary connection system that must be licensed by third-party accessory manufacturers. Meanwhile, the PS5 uses a standard SSD connection, and while the best PS5 built-in SSDs are quite expensive to start with, the fact that anyone can make them brings the price down significantly.

Given the ever-increasing size of games and the need to install each game on your console, having as much storage space as possible is crucial.

One of our favorite PS5 SSDs right now is 2TB WD_Black SN850X for only $179 — but is understood to have fallen to a low of $119. This is significantly lower than the Seagate 2TB expansion card, which is the only expansion card currently on sale that is compatible with the 2TB Xbox Series X.

Given the ever-increasing size of games and the need to install each game on your console, having as much storage space as possible is crucial. Internal storage space of less than 1TB is no longer sufficient, and cheaper SSDs and hard drives are not suitable for current games. The last thing you want is to keep uninstalling and redownloading games because you're running out of space.

Thankfully, prices are coming down, and while we can't say how long this new promotional price will last, it's time for 2TB cards to get the treatment they deserve. After all, Xbox expansion cards are hot-swappable. So why would anyone want to pay more when you can instantly swap between two 1TB cards? We can only hope this price stays this low for a while.
