Biometric payment cards launched in new South Asian markets

Oslo, Norway, May 13 2024 – Another milestone for IDEX Pay as we open new markets in South Asia with an innovative challenger bank. This will be the first large-scale rollout of biometric payment cards in the country.

With digitalization as its core focus, the bank sees biometric payment cards as a key enabler in accelerating digital adoption. Biometric technologies are fully aligned with the bank’s strategy of differentiation through technological innovation as they contribute to economic progress by providing responsible financial services to all.

Today, Asia accounts for nearly 75% of total global payment transactions, surpassing Europe and North America, and is the global leader in payment technology1. Bank cards are expanding faster in Asia Pacific than elsewhere as consumers shift from cash to digital payments. IDEX continues to execute its strategy of opening up the biometric card market in one country in Asia.
