The best way to book Qatar Airways’ famous QSuite using credit card points

Using credit card points to book QSuite with Qatar Airways is not only a smart financial decision, but an absolute game changer. With one-way ticket prices easily soaring to over $6,000, using points to get one of the most luxurious business class in-flight experiences is a wise use of credit card travel rewards.

I recently went through this process myself (but unfortunately had to cancel the trip) and discovered several effective strategies to secure a coveted QSuite seat without paying the exorbitant price. Let’s dive into the best ways to make this premium experience more accessible.

Why QSuite stands out

QSuite is no ordinary business class; it's an extraordinary experience. These suites offer fully lie-flat beds, privacy doors and an ambience that rivals first class on other airlines. These rooms offer gourmet meals on demand, designer amenities and entertainment systems to keep you entertained for hours. If your goal is a luxurious experience in the sky, be sure to verify that your flight is operating on a QSuite-equipped aircraft, which is commonly found on select international routes and on specific models such as the Airbus A350 and Boeing 777.

Book QSuite with Avios

So, you have some travel dreams and need Avios to make them happen? This is a great option, especially if you're looking at Qatar Airways' QSuite. Both Qatar Airways Frequent Flyer Club and British Airways Executive Club can use the same currency – Avios. Here's a friendly guide on how to use those points to ride comfortably in QSuite.

  1. Start your search: Visit the British Airways website. It has a really user-friendly interface and is great for checking when and where QSuites are available. Since you are dealing with Qatar Airways (the partner airline), the website clearly shows you availability.
  2. Points transfer: Have you earned credit card travel points through Chase Ultimate Rewards or another major program? Perfect as you can transfer these points to Qatar Airways Frequent Flyer Club or British Airways at a 1:1 exchange rate. Also keep an eye out for transfer bonuses – they're like those unexpected upgrades that can sometimes make you happy.
  3. Lock your flight:
    • Use Qatar Airways Frequent Flyer Club: Simply log in to your account, go to where it says Booking with Avios and select a QSuite flight. Then, settle all taxes on your credit card and start your dream trip.
    • Use British Airways Executive Club: Use its platform to book flights after transferring your points there. It's pretty much the same exercise – use Avios for flights and credit cards for extras.

Both options typically cost around 70,000 points to purchase a one-way ticket to QSuite, plus $100 in taxes and fees. Planning a longer adventure outside of Doha, perhaps to a dreamy place like the Maldives? Note that British Airways may ask for a bit more – around 85,000 Avios for the extra flight.

Book with JetBlue TrueBlue

JetBlue and Qatar Airways have been partners for a while, but until recently you couldn't use JetBlue's TrueBlue points to book flights to Qatar. The feature can be accessed through the JetBlue website and costs approximately 80,000 points one way.

The best value options come with direct flights to Doha. If your travel plans include continuing beyond Doha, the points required can be expected to increase based on distance.

TrueBlue points can be replenished through transfers from major programs such as American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards and Citi Thank You Points. Chase and Citi (Citi Strata Premier℠ Card and Citi Prestige® Card holders) have a transfer ratio of 1:1, while Amex has a transfer ratio of 2.5:2.

Using credit card points to book a seat on Qatar Airways' QSuite can turn a trip that would have cost $6,000 into a more affordable adventure. Whether you accumulate points through Qatar Airways, British Airways or JetBlue, each program offers access to top-notch travel experiences. So collect your points, choose the best route, and get ready to experience the luxury of air travel in QSuite!
