Following the incredible success of the past 3 years, Crown Heights Chaverim will once again be handing out 'Look Before You Lock' cards to remind people not to leave children in cars.

In the United States, an average of 39 people die each year due to children left in cars.

This summer, as a community service, Crown Heights Chaverim will once again be offering unique cards that can easily hang on your rearview mirror as a constant reminder not to leave children in the car.

The cards will hang on your rearview mirror and are available for purchase at the following Crown Heights locations.

Crown Heights Urgent Care – Lefferts & Kingston
Kahan’s Superette – Union & Kingston

Chaverin posted the following tips to help prevent these tragedies from happening.
1. Always “look before locking”. Make it a habit to check the back seat every time you get out of the car.

2. The Waze app has a feature that reminds you to check if there are any children when you arrive at your destination. It only takes a minute to enable this feature and may save your child's life.

3. Be extra vigilant if there are any changes to your daily routine. This is when the risk of unintentionally leaving a child in the car increases.

4. Put the items you need for your next destination in the back seat, such as your phone, wallet, or laptop.

5. Discuss hot car deaths with everyone who drives your children anywhere. This should include partners, grandparents, nannies, friends and even bus drivers.
